Obituary for Floyd Saunders Jones (USMC Capt. Ret.)

Floyd Saunders Jones (USMC Cpt. Ret.), 83, of the Bell Fork Homes Community, Jacksonville, departed this life on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Onslow Memorial Hospital.

Floyd was a native of New Bern, North Carolina and previously held Church membership at Star of Zion Missionary Baptist Church. He was currently a member of Tarawa Terrace Chapel aboard Camp Lejeune.

He received Bachelor Degrees in Social Science, Psychology and Criminal Justice. He also received Associate Degrees in Carpentry, brick masonry, plumbing and automotive mechanics.

During his military career of twenty-four years, he received numerous decorations, including the Purple Heart.

Floyd retired from the United States Postal Service (New River Post Office-Jacksonville) after twenty-two years of dedicated service.

Floyd will be forever cherished by: his adoring wife of sixty-three years, Catherine "Cathy" Jones of the home; two sons, Michael Jones (Deborah) of Raleigh and Gregory Jones (Kathryn) of Youngsville, North Carolina; four Grandchildren; four Great-Grandchildren; one sister, Mildred Saunders of Glen Arden, Maryland; and a host of other relatives and friends.
